We give you all three, and we answer repair calls the same way we answer new-build calls.
“My yard slopes pretty badly toward the back — is that going to be a problem?” No, but it does change the design. A sloped lot usually means taller posts, more bracing, and sometimes stairs down to a lower patio or yard area instead of a single-level deck.
“Do I actually need a permit for a small deck?” In most cases, yes, if it’s attached to the house or more than a couple feet off the ground — but there are narrow exemptions for small, low, detached platforms. We’ll tell you which category your project falls into before you pay for anything.
